Staffing
At Cairns Community Kindy, there is always a minimum ratio of 1 staff to 11 children. We have one registered teacher and one assistant per group in each session. We also have an additional needs assistant in groups when there is a child with additional needs.
Teachers
All of our teachers are very experienced and qualified in the area of early childhood education, in line with C&K requirements and the National Quality Standards. As early childhood teachers, they have a minimum of 4 years university training in the education of children in the early years (up to 8 years old). Our teachers maintain yearly registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.

Assistants
Our assistants are also qualified professionals. The C&K requirement for assistants is that all assistants must have a minimum TAFE certificate 3 in early childhood studies.
First Aid and CPR Certificates
Both teachers and assistants are required to have current senior first aid, CPR, management of anaphylaxis and asthma certificates. CPR, and anaphylaxis and asthma management are updated annually.
Child Protection
All of our staff have completed courses in Child Protection and Portable Fire Extinguisher Instruction.
Suitability Cards
In addition to their qualifications, all of our staff and the executive committee members are required to have positive notices for suitability cards (Blue Cards), issued by the Public Safety Business Agency.
